Christmas Gift Guide 2015

So the season is upon us, the gift giving season at that, so it is time for a gift guide. I have been trawling the city & the country, trawled boutique shops & online market places and I am drawing to the end of my Christmas calendar. So here it is just some ideas, they aren’t split in to categories as I firmly believe ones mother is not the same as another nor would my brother appreciate the same thing as yours but there are some personality headers for inspiration. As well as some interesting insights in to the wonderful designer makers that handmade a lot of the products I choose. I strongly believe in supporting independent retailers on a regular day but especially when it comes to gift giving because you are putting money in the hands of someone who deserves it and giving someone else a bespoke and original item they won’t find elsewhere.

Silver Woodland Creature Lapel Pins

Fox, Stag, Eagle £60

I love this brand after finding it at a Crafty Fox Market and have been waiting for the perfect item to include, lapel pins are the must have gentleman’s gift this christmas and these critters are elegant and not overstated.

Waxed Canvas Pencil Case

Marbled £15

I have been familiar with CIRE for years as they were one of WeMakeLondon’s designers but was happy to see them again recently at BUST Craftacular producing some new designs for Christmas including this wow worthy marble finished bags.

christmasgift4All Natural Soap

Spearmint, Nettle, Sage etc. £3+

I am a true convert of Caurnies and have been buying from them for years and I can’t profess them enough for someone who is sensitive to most toiletries. Whether you have an oldy who’s skin can’t stand chemicals or like me has a friend who likes to use only natural ingredients, Caurnie have what you need catch them at a fair to get the best deals.

Butterfly friend, Bee Pollinator, Urban Garden etc. £3.50

A great stocking filler for the gardner in the family these are clever and so easy to use, soak and plant then wait. Each grenade is full of everything the seeds need to grow and separate naturally, perfect for a wild garden or a border that needs filling.

Recycled Wool Door Stop

Badger, Dog, Fox £32

A great collection of homeware made from Yorkshire wool and an eclectic mix of heritage & vintage textiles woven in to their designs. However they are exclusive to a Pop Up shop in Maidenhead or the Spirit of Christmas fair otherwise check out what they do have on their website.

Leather Pencil Pouch

Multiple Coloured Leather £10

A nice little leather accessory for that creative friend, clever embossed saying on the front and a nice selection of colours to choose from. It can be both personal and neutral at the same time, combine it with some personalised pencils for that complete gift.

Ceramic Cassette Badges £5

These are cute little badges from a wonderful ceramic designer, her cups and saucers have lovely patterns but I particularly like these retro cassette tape badges. Attach them to a jacket, on a bag or even a soft surface at home as an ornament.

Tea Light Holder/Small Pot

Carved wood and paper covered £12

Tea light holders have always been a nice little gift at Christmas time, dark winter days just need a few candles scattered about to create the mood. These ones are particularly nice from Lucie Ellen, she is a talented craftswomen and knows just what to do with wood.

Blueberry Tea Towel

Pinecones, Papias, Flowers £12

All of Sophie’s wonderful watercolour illustrated patterns are intricate and beautiful but my favourite has to be the blueberries, them scattered across a tea towel is just scrumptious. So perfect for the kitchen lover or just an appreciator of nice design.

Geometric Concrete Plant Pot £12

Another treat for those with green thumbs, something nice and easy to keep around the house succulents are very low maintenance then combined with a trendy concrete planter and you have one heavy gift.

Mini Broach

Cat, Dog, Bird, Stag, Rabbit £14

Another great wood worker Alice comes up with some distinct silhouette designs, with both bold and soft colours there is plenty to choose from. These mini broaches would make great gifts for a co-worker or even a cousin.

Meadow Printed Purse

Royal Blue, Ruby Red, Grey Slate & multiple materials £18 – £26

Handmade pieces with designs straight from the designers inner imagination, very glam if you ask me my favourite being the blue velvet but there is plenty of options and you know each is slightly unique so completely worth it.

Baby Rattle

Cotton £20

Finally a gift just right for the little ones with sticky fingers, apart from silly hats something soft and cuddly is my go to when it comes to friends kids. These are well made and make a minimal noise but shall keep them entertained for a while at least. Then once they are done place him on the shelf to look at … adorable.

Triangle Pendant

Without Holi Dye/ With Dye£23-25

My new favourite acrylic jewellery designer had to make it in to this years gift guide, if you have someone obsessed with plastic adornments then a piece from Rosa is a must have, with inspiring resin inlays filled with gold/silver leaf they really are special pieces.
